TORNADO REPORTED IN ALTAMONT 4/4/25 The
National Weather Service confirmed that a tornado touched down at Altamont on
Wednesday evening. The
tornado struck and caused heavy damage to the home of Melissa Marti, sucking
her out of the residence. She was reportedly heading to the basement, with her
phone in her hand, when the tornado hit. Melissa reportedly still had the
phone when landing outside and was able to call her brother for help. The
National Weather Service storm survey determined that an EF-1 tornado touched
down southeast of Altamont between 6:08 pm and 6:11 pm. The tornado track was
along North 500th Street, about a half mile north of East 700th
Avenue. The tornado produced peak winds of 105 MPH along a path of 2.55 miles
with a maximum width of 125 yards.
