I57 FATAL ACCIDENT

32-year-old Cody Becker of Lakeland, Tennessee, was killed when his car ran into the rear of a semi truck stopped in traffic on I-57 at the 139 marker near Farina Friday morning.

The semi had stopped in the left lane due to an accident ahead of it where a semi rolled over and blocked both lanes of traffic.  The driver of the semi was not hurt.  Becker was pronounced dead on the scene by the Fayette County Coroner.

The crash occurred at 1:25 Friday morning.  Traffic was diverted at the Edgewood exit to Illinois Route 37.  All lanes reopened at 9:15 Friday morning.
