CROP PROGRESS AND CONDITION 4/15/25 The
USDA says spring rain allowed Illinois farmers to only make minimal planting
progress last week. There were 2.7 days
suitable for fieldwork in the week ending April 13th.
Statewide, the average temperature was 46.1 degrees, 3.2 degrees below
normal. Precipitation averaged 0.23 inches, 0.72 inches below normal.
Topsoil moisture supply was rated 1% very short, 10% short, 69% adequate,
and 20% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 1% very short, 27%
short, 55% adequate, and 17% surplus. Corn
planted reached 1%, compared to the 5-year average of 4%. Soybeans
planted reached 2%, equal to the 5-year average. Winter
wheat headed reached 1%, compared to the 5-year average of 3%. Winter wheat condition was rated 1% poor, 33%
fair, 57% good, and 9% excellent.
