SENTENCING DELAY

4/15/25

Another attorney has been appointed to represent Aydreian Hooper, 36, causing yet another delay in the sentencing of a Fairfield woman.  Hooper previously entered a guilty plea in December of last year to charges related to the July 14, 2024 hot car death of her child and the severe injury of another child.

On Thursday in Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Dinn vacated the appointment of Wayne County Public Defender Heidi Hoffee and appointed Salem attorney Melissa Duran to represent Hooper.  The case has been reset for sentencing Friday, May 2nd.  Special Prosecutor David Rands is handling the case for the state.

This marks the second delay in the sentencing of Hooper.  She had been set for sentencing in February, but the matter was set off until April 11th after the judge who initially took Hooper’s guilty plea, Thomas Dinn, was unavailable.

Ms. Hooper remains free after being fitted with a GPS monitoring device.
