NEW HONORARY DEPUTY

4/16/25

Sheriff Andy Myers announced that yesterday, D.J. Daniel was sworn in as an honorary Deputy Sheriff of Clay County.

D.J. Daniel is a 13-year-old young man who was given 5 months to live in 2018 after being diagnosed with cancer.  D.J. has continued to defy the odds while fighting cancer and pursuing his dream of being a law enforcement officer.

“DJ” Daniel, whose dream is to become a police officer, was thrust into the national spotlight when he was sworn in by President Donald Trump as a Secret Service agent before a joint session of Congress on March 4th.

Tuesday D.J. was sworn in as an honorary law enforcement officer to more than 200 agencies across the United States at a ceremony in St. Louis.
